COFFEE BREAK WITH...Adam Arnott, Finance Consultant - Christie Finance Real Estate
Coffee Break with… is a Christie Group series showcasing the brilliance, expertise, and diversity of our network of over 200 employees.
Where were you when you accepted your role at Christie Finance?
Just heading to training, made the cold wet session a little brighter!
What was your first job?
Working for Jupiter Unit Trust Managers in the dealing term
In a couple of sentences, can you tell us a bit about your job at Christie Finance?
I started in the core team, however as my background is real estate I just made the move to the Real Estate team.
In essence, if it involves land/development/refurbishment/expansion or refinance – we can fund it and love a challenge where others have failed.
What’s your favourite thing about Christie Finance?
Without question the culture and longevity of the staff due to the company investing time into developing and retaining their staff.
What's a favourite project that you’ve worked on at Christie Finance so far?
Currently helping a client who purchased a property at auction and chose the wrong broker. I’ve picked it up with days left to complete and working all hours to get a solution (looks like its going to complete shortly).
What’s been a highlight of your career so far?
I brokered an £8 million deal, where others had failed, to add a storey to a building near Green Park tube. Managed to get it completed within permitted development, via a family office funding for a BVI based client who I could only speak to between 6am and 8am due to his busy diary.
Who in your industry do you feel most inspired by?
The untapped opportunities within Christie & Co for the real estate team
Tell us a bit about your life outside work – what are your hobbies?
I’m still (trying) to play rugby every Saturday and am chairman of the club too. I’ve got a (small) yacht that I’m currently putting a new cabin and hoping to sail again this summer. I’ve got two kids, Rupert 9 and Harriet 5.
What’s your hometown? Where do you live now?
I was born on London, now live in a village outside Bristol, called Almondsbury.

New Zealand – hired an RV and toured the south island (the British and Irish Lions just happened to be there at the same time)
What’s your biggest pet peeve?
Anyone that doesn’t appreciate what they already have
If you could live and work in any city, where would you go?
Probably Berlin or Munich – I love the German culture, work ethic and overall approach to life (and they have laws on how beer is made!)
What would be your desert island meal?
Anything Italian, lasagne, pizza, salads
What’s your favourite film?
Planes, Trains and Automobiles
What is one thing on your bucket list?
Bora Bora
