David Quigg Finance Consultant

When did you join Christie Finance?
I joined on Tuesday 20th September; my start date was pushed back due to the Funeral of Her Majesty the Queen.

Where were you when you accepted your role at Christie Finance?
When I accepted the role, I was in the Indian street food restaurant Mowgli, I would recommend highly (the food and accepting a job here)!

What was your first job?
My first job was washing dishes in a restaurant. Really hard work, I’m not sure my back ever recovered.

In a couple of sentences, can you tell us a bit about your job at Christie Finance?
My job is to help people obtain the finance they need to grow their business, new equipment, refurbishments, or costs associated to purchasing a new site. My job is to discuss and get the best option for the customer.

What’s your favourite thing about Christie Finance?
I had no idea when I started how big a company Christie & Co is, despite this it feels like a family and everyone I speak does their upmost to help you.

What's a favourite project that you’ve worked on at Christie Finance so far?
One I’m working on now. I love it when the customer is passionate about their business and this customer provides a service that is a hobby of mine. I won’t give too much detail at this stage but I’m really looking forward to this venue opening and will be visiting as regularly as possible.

How has the industry changed since you started at Christie Finance?
I’ve not worked here for too long, but the biggest change has been the interest rate rises and rates going to pre-2008 levels. Despite this, the market remains buoyant and what I’ve learnt over 10 years in finance is some will always look for an excuse not to do something, be it a general election, Brexit, Scottish independence vote, but those that grow their business the most look past these excuses.

Tell us a bit about your life outside work – what are your hobbies?
I enjoy a number of sports including American football and basketball, but my main passion is football and Liverpool FC.

What’s your hometown? Where do you live now?
My hometown is Liverpool, I now live in Cheshire.

Where’s the best place you’ve been on holiday?
Palawan in the Philippines, absolute paradise.

What’s your biggest pet peeve?
This is a driving one for me, it’s people who don’t thank you when you let them past.

If you could live and work in any city, where would you go?
I’d probably stay close to where I am now - not too far from the beautiful mountains in North Wales or the Lake District, and close to Liverpool, a city that I love. Either that or somewhere like Nashville.

What would be your desert island meal?
Peking duck and pancakes.

What’s your favourite film?
Revenge of the Sith. Easily the best Star Wars film.

What is your favourite movie quote?
‘White guy with a moustache, about 6 foot 3.’
‘Awfully big moustache.’ - Leslie Nielsen in The Naked Gun 2½

What is one thing on your bucket list?
To visit Japan.

What is your biggest fear?
Not being able to provide for my family.

What news source do you read every day?
At lunch I open four tabs on my computer, BBC News, BBC Sport, Sky News and Sky Sports.

What’s your social media platform of choice?
I instantly thought twitter but there’s far too many adverts now, so Instagram.
