Ayrshire Farm and holiday accommodation purchased by experienced operator
South Whittlieburn Farm, a well-established B&B, camping and caravan site, farm and livery yard in Largs, Ayrshire, has been acquired by Catherine Lindsay-Brown, an experienced B&B and livery yard owner, with funding successfully secured by specialist commercial finance broker, Christie Finance.
South Whittlieburn Farm is located in the popular holiday destination of Largs, within a picturesque setting in Brisbane Glen, known for both its historic and natural points of interest. The farm spans across 148 acres, comprising 40 camping pitches, 27 stables, hayshed, tack rooms and outdoor arena as well as sheep pens and various outbuildings. Additionally, the site includes a six bedroom B&B which operates out of a converted farmhouse and has achieved a 4-star rating with the Scottish Tourist Board, as well as a number of awards over the years.
Catherine, who currently operates a 5-star B&B as well as a professional livery yard and owns award winning stallions, is no stranger to the industry and intends on continuing and building upon the impressive reputation she has built along with her sons, one of whom has ridden horses internationally, representing both Scotland and Great Britain.
Not only will the planned increase in size and improvement of the facilities mean the livery side of the business will grow, the 80 strong flock of sheep currently owned by Catherine’s eldest son will also be moved there, with plans to increase the livestock to 300 at South Whittlieburn Farm following modernisation of the site. This includes implementing luxury lodges and creating an online presence with the introduction of a website and online booking system. On the experience of funding through Christie Finance, Catherine commented “Emma’s advice and support throughout the whole process was invaluable, I would not hesitate to recommend Christie Finance for their professional and efficient service”.
Emma Vanson, Finance Consultant at Christie Finance who worked with Catherine to purchase the freehold of the property, comments “It has been a pleasure working with Catherine to purchase South Whittlieburn Farm. Catherine's extensive knowledge of the sector enables her to grow the business and bring it to the 21st century. I wish her the best of luck with her new business venture”.
