Birmingham pharmacy under new ownership for the first time in 22 years
Purchased by first-time buyer, with funding secured by specialist commercial broker Christie Finance and sold by agents Christie & Co, Heartlands pharmacy is now under new ownership.
Heartland Pharmacy is located in the residential area of Bordesley, just over a mile east of Birmingham city centre, where the seller had been serving the local community since 1995 before placing it on the market with specialist agents, Christie & Co.
Mr Deepak Gupta identified Heartland Pharmacy as the ideal opportunity to become an operator, having gained a wealth of experience since qualifying as a pharmacist in Boots, as a Locum for corporate and independent pharmacies, and most recently as a full-time pharmacy manager for Tesco.
Deepak will not only have his own extensive experience to rely on, but also that of his family’s; his wife, sister and father-in-law are all qualified pharmacists, and willing to pitch in and support the business at any point. Deepak is committed to engaging with the local community, as well as the doctors and dentists from the neighbouring practice and surgery, growing the business, it’s services and its long standing reputation.
Mr Gupta comments, “as a pharmacist buying their first pharmacy there is a lot to process. Thankfully Gary and Jonathan at Christie & Co have made the whole process seamless and have been with me through everything from start to finish. I can’t thank them enough for helping me achieve my dream. I know the road ahead may be challenging but thanks to them I have had an amazing start."
Gary Boyce, Director at Christie Finance, comments, “Deepak is an energised pharmacist with all relevant skills and experience to own and run his own business. With his vision for taking Heartlands Pharmacy forward, I’m confident in his ability to grow trade and make a roaring success of the opportunity. The competitive funding we secured on his behalf, from a bank keen to support his current and future needs, puts him on a solid foundation and I wish him all the very best”.
Jonathan Board, Director at Christie & Co, comments, “Despite the undoubted challenges within the sector, it is still evident that young and motivated purchasers see opportunity in acquiring independent pharmacies and getting a foot on the ownership ladder. Heartland Pharmacy is just another example of this, and we are confident that we will continue to see sales of this type completing”
