Primary Health Group acquires highly respected care business in East Sussex
Primary Health Group has acquired Gary Richard Homes Limited, a care provider operating from Halland House in East Sussex. Funding for the acquisition was sourced through commercial finance specialist, Christie Finance.
Gary Richard Homes Limited is a residential care services provider for adults with learning disabilities. The CQC-rated ‘Good’ care home has an effective capacity for 29 residents and comprises 10 en-suite bedrooms. The business operates from Halland House in Lewes, East Sussex, which is a well-presented detached Victorian-style care home with a two-storey lodge attached.
Primary Health Group has the ultimate objective of establishing a business within the care sector, operating from multiple homes and providing high-quality care for its residents, and its owners believe that Gary Richard Homes Limited provides an ideal opportunity to begin this venture due to its strong reputation. The group plans to focus on making a difference to care provision at Halland House as it looks to oversee the clinical governance at the care home, whilst plans are also being drawn up to ensure CQC standards are met.
Owners of the group comment, “We had been in the market for some time looking for a suitable care home that would reflect, or had the potential to reflect, our purpose and mission. The sale was openly known amongst staff which we believe improved communication and provided confidence for both the seller and us as buyers.
“We liked that the business presented a lot of potential, however, it still operates using antiquated systems which has resulted in convoluted processes. Therefore, we see huge opportunities in improving the current operational procedures which will enable improved quality of care services.”
Associate Director at Christie Finance, Lawrence Roberts, who secured a seven-figure funding package for the group, comments, “It was a pleasure to support my clients on the purchase of Halland House. Due to the structure of the deal, there were hurdles to overcome, however the team of experts that we worked with really made a difference in securing the purchase of the home. As this was our client’s first purchase in the care sector, it was important to obtain the most competitive terms to enable them to grow the group.
“The funding package obtained presents a clear sign of what can be achieved when working with a specialist broker. I would like to wish Primary Health Group all the best for the future and also thank them for trusting me to support them with the purchase of Halland House.”
